The Manglorean crowd has been blessed with a lot of malls around the city. It all started with the advent of Saibeen Complex in Lalbagh. The ‘move n pick’ supermarket trend soon caught on which led to Bharath Mall and Empire Mall. Bharat Mall was a venture of 30 Beedis, which opened a multiplex. City Center followed soon and has been the one-stop favorite of every Manglorean ever since.

Forum Mall is the youngest one of them all, but the biggest one by physical area so far. It is the only mall which has a PVR in Mangalore. The emergence of shopping malls encouraged established brands to open exclusive outlets. Lifestyle brands like Max, Westside, Reliance Trends came in soon. Food Chains followed later.

Around 2 years ago, Mangaluru welcomed its first ever McDonald’s in Forum Mall. Bharat Mall underwent renovation last summer. Both City Center and Empire Mall is a Mohtisham Venture. If assessed by the activities going on in malls, City Center is by far the most active one, hosting Promotional events, Reality Shows etc.

The end hasn’t arrived yet, as it is only the beginning. More Shopping Malls are getting funding and are sprouting up in every nook imaginable.
